2. Where would you like to be in five years?

If you don’t know where you want to end up, it’s hard to know which road to take after graduating college. Now that you know what your skills are, plan for a job that will harness those skills. Don’t let your talents go to waste. You, and the world need them. A reasonable destination to plan for is about five years in the future. Plan out where you would like to be in the next five years and then work backwards to where you are today. Set into motion a plan of action. Which leads me to my next point.

3. Set great goals.

Goals will be that driving force after graduating college. It will motivate you to get up out of bed in the morning. Make sure you set goals for not only your career, but also your: finances, family, home, relationships and any other aspect of your life that are important to you.

4. Know your values.

It may have worked showing up to your psychology class at 8:00 AM, hung over from the night before, but it doesn’t quite work out so well showing up for that new entry level job you just got. After graduating college you may have to redefine what is and isn’t OK to do.

5. Understand your finances.
